That is why I'm here too. Learn what I can here, my job now isn't very happy about me writing though. Told them monday I might be gone in 2 weeks, told them tonight that it's basically a done deal. Supervisor said "you're not going to give me two weeks?" But I got to do it.
Oh i know i have bin home every weekend since i have bin driving i dont mind being out more then a week it comes with the job if u cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen
That is where we disagree. Being gone weekends is not an inherent part of trucking. That is just how most companies CHOOSE to operate. We choose to have our drivers home on weekends and they are.
Alrighty!!! It just keeps getting better. Here I sit in Greenville, SC. Detained at the consignee. Dont know why, they just said it will be awhile. So, Im around 1hour from my house on a friday. Sweeeeeet........ oh but wait........nope, when you get empty bounce even closer to your home(30 minutes) then go to the Gaston, SC terminal to get your trailer serviced. The load delivers in Raleigh NC 1st thing monday. So, no home time again. I reply back with a counter offer of bounce to pick up the load, go home, deliver load monday morn, swing by gaston during the week. I was told"no, you will do it the way I told you." So, heres how its really gonna happen....when this gets unloaded, I will bounce to nearest Pilot to fuel truck. Thhen I WILL go hmoe and empty out truck. By then I will be out of hours, ya know the legal stuff. .thenThen tomorrow morn with a fresh clock I will deliver trailer to Gaston. As long as Im there I will hand them the keys to an empty truck and empty trailer!! I CURSE the day I ever started down this road. I should have been smart enough to see that with 40 new drivers EVERY WEEK, there has to be something wrong. So this is the last load I will haul for TMC!
dont give up on driving, there are lots of great jobs out there that can get you home weekly, nightly, or even every 2 to 3 days. good luck..
Its no wonder I have grey hair!!! As mad as I am, I guess I'll head to Gaston. I dont know what else to do. Ive spoken to my wife and she supports me and realizes that we wont see each other this weekend, again.
