great comments guys. I love it!! Keep them coming. I wanted this thread to be an open forum, so to speak.
As for age, I'm knocking on 50's door, and I'm out here. Its funny that the veteran drivers think I'm an old timer. Its funny to think I'm a rookie and they think I know what I'm doing. Well, its funny to me.
As for tarping and securing and such, if your gonna be a flat bedder, it doesnt matter who you drive for, securement is a MAJOR part of our job. Thats what keeps us from getting fat and lazy. The tarps, dont sweat them. Its part of the job. Hard work? Well, it can be. If I have to tarp a tall load, the forklift operators are more than happy to put the tarps on top of the load for me. I dont "race" to get the load tarped, I work a steady, safe pace for me. When I was a Drill Sgt, I would tell the soldiers that" slow is steady, and steady is fast."

    Good for you guy!!!
I cant think of a single bad thing to say about TMC. But then again, I am new. TMC will reimburse you for the cost of your school, up to a certain dollar amount. The only thing I can tell you is that there is ALOT of "hype" about TMC and the orientation process. TMC likes it that way. To tell the truth, I like it that way too. It keeps alot of the turds from even bothering to apply. Nothing against turds, just go drive for some bottem feeder carrier. Remember, its the "bad" ones that help make us look so goooood!!!

p.s. I was cleaning on my truck yesterday in the Pilot lot, you should have heard the fuss on the CB radio. I thought it was funny. They're just jealous. :biggrin_25523:

Yes, the trucks are very nice. But in truth, their are ALOT of nice trucks out there. I like the "attitude" of being a TMC driver. The truck gets their attention, TMC's attitude puts us out front. I had tarped a load of lumber the other day, and a competitor, A COMPETITOR guys said" good Lord TMC, did you spray paint that tarp on?" Thats how tight and "sharp" the tarp looked. Its that kinda stuff that I enjoy. For lack of a better phrase, its the Marine Corps attitude. :biggrin_25525: The few, the proud......

Actually I told my soldiers that "slow is smooth, and smooth is fast" :O)
Did you have the GI Bill available to use?
