I am about to start school and have been following this (and other) threads with interest. For whatever my thoughts are worth Blind def got a bad shake but I just don't think it was a good choice to begin with for him, given all his responsibilities, and he set himself up to fail. Lonelyswmtrucker is gettin rained on here and I just want to state in his defense that I agree with what he is saying for the most part. I need the training and if a bad first year is the cost, so be it. I don't have to be at home every week and wouldn't go forward if I did no matter what I was told. I am lookin for the experience first. If this isn't a permanent home than so be it. I like most of what I have read about TMC and I'm gonna give em a shot, and my best.

done with with the class room stuff good refresher even for guys like me that been driving for a few years my opinion about TMC so far is good if i was the one doing the hiring i would like to have the best drivers on my trucks i did see alot of people in traning that had never even been on a truck the lifestyle will be a shock if they are not willing to have long days away from home good luck to the ones still staying dont give up and for the ones thinking about it as long as you are a hard worker you will be ok

i agree with u on hometime being one of the top considerations, & u hear alot of good so it kinda makes ur decision easier, but i somehow have a gut feeling that there's more to this story than what is being told. i just found out i have a relative who drives for tmc & is home every weekend & when told him what blind was going thru, he asked, what is HE doing to be done this way. he said u have to do something to be treated this way. he's (relative) home every weekend & most holidays; so now like i said there are 2-3 sides to every story, urs, theirs, & the actual truth. not calling no one a liar but let's hear tmc's side of his situation

yep that is so true, like always u have dues to pay @ every job, so be prepared to pay them in; if ur unwilling to pay dues for whatever reason, u might was well go home

it takes alot from a man to be away from home doing what we do but the secret to making it as a trucker is having a wife that will support what you do for her and the kids with out making you feel guilty... for not being there when you cant...

My husband is in his second week with his trainer. We have lucked out and his trainer is in the same town as us. The trainer and his wife have told us that his first year he got home every Friday but this second year many times it has been on Saturdays.

Before my husband started with TMC he told Gus and even some of the instructors during orientation that we have already paid for a vacation for a week. He was told that should be fine but not to ask for any additional time off for quite awhile. I have told him that if he needs to work a weekend once a month or every other week for awhile I would be ok with that. (keep in mind that we just adopted two kids at different times in the last 6 months and last month we just took in my three nieces). Things will be crazy on the home front but I understand that he has to do what he has to do. As long as we can talk on the phone and have the occasional Skype time we will be good. My 4 year old daughter is having the roughest time with him being away. I am hoping that it will get easier for her though.

communication is the key. my better half & i talk 3-4 times a day if not more. after kids are asleep, is when we can discuss anything that we need to discuss w/o MOMMY HE DID THIS TO ME, OR MOMMY SHE'S DOING THIS, ETC.

it will get easier for ur daughter as time goes, it's rough on kids @ first, but as time goes, it gets easier & they look forward to seeing daddy come home
