In order to take the "full" 34 hours off during the DST switch, you would have to show 35 hours on your log book. A "flag" isn't necessary, unless your company would require it.

If I were "out" during the DST switch, I would log at least 11 hours off duty/Sleeper to be legal. And any astute DOT officer WOULD be looking for errors this time of year. Might just give only a warning, or if he were "revenue generating" it could cost money.

LOL since when does common sense have anything to do with HOS rules?

I think I am just going to draw my line like I always do. Log a 34 hour reset but run within my roll over hours until my next reset. That way if DOT looks at it they will have to do a little more math only to find I am legal either way. It also may save me some explaining with the log scanners at my company.

That's why I very seldomly will run during DST. If I am running I will write my neccessary remarks and move on from there. I've never had a problem to this day.

There is an old thread from last year in the industry/regulations section that Logs responded to titled 23 hour day. Wish I knew how to just add that link to my post, sorry but maybe you can find it over there. I just went to that section and typed daylight savings time in the search box.

As long as your log shows 34 hours off duty or sleeper your good. you could probably adjust your log by 30 muinutes on each end to show 35, but I would not, since I am going to flag the 34 hour mark as 34/70 HOS Reset. The statues says "log 34 hours off duty"

Legally its not your choice, It is your home terminal time zone you have to follow, If they are in a Day State You have to use their time.

Most drivers are on their 34 restart anyway when the time changes so it isn't a issue. No different then delivering to a customer that is on a different time zone. You log off yours and adjust for the pick or drop you are making.
