Whether the mileage needs to be included is debatable as the FMCSA says to record:
(4) Total miles driving today. Total mileage driven during the 24-hour period shall be recorded on the form containing the driver's duty status record.
- eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations
It can be reasonably argued that they are only referencing miles under interstate transportation and not PC miles. Regardless, there is no other requirement for noting PC on the RODS unless location changes. -

Here at Celadon we are on E-log for 4-5 years, we can log personal driving as "off duty driving" ( not if we are on the load") we need to flag the odometer start / end in comments; But you need a valid PTI in last 24 hours and you can go 45 miles without affecting your off duty status after will automatically switch to "Driving".
For example, it's 5 PM now, i arrived in a yard drop trailer and i want to do 36 hours reset, (but i want to drive the truck for shopping, watch a movie)..., i'll do another PTI for tractor, even i if have one done this morning, this will allow me to move the truck drive off duty, 45 miles until tomorrow at 5 pm, during my off time without affecting my time off /36 reset. But the truck can;'t move after 5 PM tomorrow , until 5 Am next day in order to get the reset after PTI is expired , even if you didn't pass over 45 miles.Last edited: Dec 29, 2017
