If you can do it all in 15 minutes then log that also it depends how your company prefers you to log it.I always logged 15 minutes for each thing.

I'd just do the 15mins, its more than enough to inspect both vehicles, and it only takes like 2 minutes to hook at most, more if the landing gear is a pain, they don't need to know that though.

I'm honestly surprised you didn't know that. -
It really does depend on what your company requires. The one I'm at hammers into us from day 1, a full 108 point pre trip takes as long as it takes, but it definitely takes more than 15 mins. It really is what you make of it. I do log more than 15 mins every day for pre-trip, just to make Safety stay away, while I do what I consider a safe inspection, Tires, lights, fluid levels, load (F/B). I may lose some miles because of it, but in the end I think its worth it

1 company I was at recently didn't want anytime shown for a pre trip. They stated that all you have to do is flag the start and do a quick walk around.
This company wanted us to show a post trip with 15 to 30 minutes in the on duty not driving.
According to this company this was what the FMCSA rules called for.

Your company may require it but there is no DOT requirement to flag anything other than location. You don't have to write pti fuel drop hook or anything like that just have to have on duty not driving time logged before and after your driving where you did your pre and post.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
