Fun read. Cant wait until the next thread gets started and if you have to move the truck 10 or whatever feet you will have to hit the drive button and then go back to on duty not driving due to gps coordinates. (Had a speaker at our safety meeting explain this)

Yes, I have actually seen some videos on this topic. I had a safety person tell me several months ago that most drivers have no idea how tight it is about to get. He said his retirement is coming soon. When this crap starts it is going to drive most of the remaining old school drivers out. Just based on what I have seen plus some of the proposed rule making I am glad I'm out of it. Good riddance too.

Itll be interesting to see the changes. Some for the better others for the worse. The speaker also mentioned its in the works to change rules on use of PC off duty etc etc. yes it will drive alot out and not really make people want to start up being micromanaged by dot in addition to company.

I had a short chat with the friend I spoke of in an earlier post. My appointment on Tuesday was canceled. I showed the image to him. I made no comment to him. This Virginia DOT cop told me that if he wrote up a false log violation only inspection report with no accompanying state citation, well lets just say he would be having a powwow with his bosses boss. This was the first thing he noticed. Then he told me there is MUCH more to what happened that day then just a violation noted. He told me this was the result of a roadside pissing contest. This guy went on to tell me that unless he can establish a prima facia case against the driver for a false log resulting in a citation there was NO WAY he would make it a violation only unless the driver royally pissed him off.

Cops love to hear these lines so work em into the next conversation with one:
    I know my rights
    You can’t do that
    I’ll have your job
What’s your name and badge number
Take off that badge and gun and lets see how tough you are

For a trucker saying those words to most cops is going to end up costing you dearly. Positive and respectful or snarky don't matter. The least you say the better off you are. One of the hardest things I have been a part of is getting people to understand that cop is NOT your friend. You can NOT convince the average cop they are wrong. The average cop has been trained on how to set you off then become a sponge and soak in all you say as they just keep noting the laws you are admitting to breaking. When cops get together they laugh at how stupid people are when they do this. Cops understand what being silent is. Most actually respect a person doing it. Just don't be a dick and start saying things like it is not any of your business. If a cop asks you where did you take your break refer them to the log. Make NO comments about your logs, NONE! I know of a situation in Georgia where a trucker got a false log ticket because he logged the flying J in Temple Georgia as being in Villa Rica Georgia, honest mistake because he had never been there before but when asked further about his log he told the officer he had took his break at the Flying J. Then the cop NAILED him for a false log. These cops do this crap every day and truckers fall for it. My God when are people going to learn in these days and times at how anti trucker most cops have become to shut their pieholes when stopped! Watching this crap is like watching some moron with a loaded gun waving it around then shooting themselves with it. Then getting pissed at the gun.

Mine was found during a Level 1 at the POE in Sheridan, Wyo., I was coming back from Mt. I madea quick stop, as I usually do, a lap around the truck and time for a potty stop, I doubt if I was out of the truck 2 minutes. She felt that my drive times were not correct, and made a note of it on my inspection that my log did not match up. I made a comment about the potty stop, I was told that I should still draw a line down and flag it, even if I don't do a change of duty status. For the record, on our elogs, I never record it, I often stop 2 or 3 times a day, just a lap around the truck and cool a tire, then back behind the wheel. We recently had a company audit of our elogs, I was asked why sometimes I note these stops and sometimes I don't, I told the inspector I forget. He let it go, on the final report, there was no mention of it.

I'm sorry, but this was YOUR fault. YOU need to learn to shut your mouth and make NO comments when being stopped like this. I still stand by every comment I made in this thread. I am still waiting on my answer from the FMCSA.
