There is a pressure sensor on each end of the DPF. The ECM compares the 2 values. When the difference is too large the code sets. Too large meaning that the DPF is plugged or becoming too restricted, the flow out is much less than the flow in. Needs a regen and possibly the DPF removed for cleaning/replacement if there are not any leaks and the sensors are good.
