Well, that didn't take long. I knew it wouldn't be too long before service failures and pushes to load or unload would happen... and I expect you 2 aren't the only ones experiencing this. Planning is key but I suspect OPS isn't getting it considering i'm still not getting my preplans placed on me so I can PLAN effectively my stops. They harped on planning our day the other day in a message sent but what is OPS doing to allow that to happen?

In an analysis of 25 days last July compared to 25 days this July (since the new regs were handed down) i'm down 2746 miles, or 33.6% thanks to this wonderful regulation and not being able to push as hard as I did before for fear of running out of hours, as you did DJ. I have vacation coming up in a week... I doubt i'll be coming back (nor do I expect to get paid for my vacation either in all honesty). 2746 miles at my pay rate is $1263 gross. OTR just isn't worth it to me any longer. I have other reasons as well that are increasing my stress level so that isn't the only factor, but it is for sure a mitigating one.

So I called LST just to inquire. Living in Reno, I'd have to accept running 6-8 weeks at a time. That's not TOO awful, unless my wife and I finally succeed in getting pregnant this year... Missing 2 months of my baby's life at a time is asking a lot. :biggrin_25511:

How long do you stay out now? When I worked at Roehl I stayed out 18 days, when I left I went to ATS and had to stay out 4 weeks at a time. Dosent seem like a lot more but it seemed like FOREVER!!!

What these ####### idiots in Washington didn't take into consideration is that to stop for 30 minutes is more like a 45 minute stop. At least it can be. Take into the time to get on and off the highway, traffic, lights, etc, etc, and before you know it, you've lost 45 minutes, EASILY. So instead we're having to add at least an hour and a half to 3 hours to a run and that is costing us money. This is EXACTLY why I'm saving up for school as we speak. I want to be paid for every ####### minute I'm at work, not a penny less.

Best of luck to you in the new endeavor man. Wish I could do that myself right now.

I was told being from Florida I'd have to stay out a minimum of 6-8 weeks also, though I only stay out a bout 5 weeks then go home.

They'll say that but once you start running with your dispatcher they'll get to know your schedule. Mine asks me when I want to go home. Others may or may not do the same

Thats actually the other half of the reason i'm looking to come off. These long days and spotty internet is cutting into my class time and punctuality with assignments... i'm using my military benefits to double major in masters degrees online at my alma matar. I may or may not use them in the long run.. but for now i've got a few leads on some local driving jobs until I can finish. Then i'll see where the wind blows. I'll know more about that once I can get home and meet with the terminal managers so technically it's still up in the air. But, as I said, given the state of gov't intervention.. it just isn't benefitting me anymore OTR.

Thanks, and good luck to you when you can get to school.

I-35 between Austin and the east/west split is a disaster. Took me 7 hours to get to the split from Laredo. 35 needs to be 6 lanes in both directions from San Antonio to the split. I hope that's what they're doing with all of that construction.

Anyways, headed to Peoria to deliver Tuesday.

I unloaded in Broken Arrow OK on Friday and reloaded in Keifer, OK bound for Houston monday morning. No preplan yet, as far as I know. I'm due back home Friday for my vacation so we'll see what the week holds.

In Shelby, MT with a load of structured steel (that used every chain I had) waiting for my paperwork so I can cross the border, it's apparently in the office but no one has e-mailed it to me. Got a roadside level 3 in CO, pulled me right off the road into a makeshift inspection area, was clean though so $100 for 20 mins of my time is really not a problem.
