Well the morning was going great and got to the repower point, swapped trailers only to find on one of my drive tires a huge chunk of rubber is missing. I suspect it's from a rest area in Mississippi that had some potholes in it. Probably hit a piece of rebar or something. Gotta head to Panama City to get it fixed in the morning then deadhead home. I shoulda asked maintenance about tire shops in Jacksonville. Closer to my home.

    Here's the super single

Had a load going to Canada that I would pickup after delivering in Arkansas City, KS tomorrow, but was taken off of it because my truck needs to be serviced. Man I was looking forward to my first Canada trip.

Well, I got approved to hire on to a local fuel outfit friday afternoon. It was a tough decison to come off the road because I really feel thats where my heart is but it is my time given all the things going on in my life and the over regulation placed on the industry. So, come monday I am turning in my resignation to Lonestar. It has been a ride here and I still think Lonestar is a great company. I made some good friends and met some great people. My DM kept me moving and, despite the call in twice a day rule he let me get away with calling him maybe twice a week, sometimes if at all. The micromanagement IS a little more than I like here and their more reactive over proactive in MANY facets but, none the less, still a great company compared to what is out there.

I made it to level 2 before resigning, drove for 1 year and 3.25 months, and wrangled 144,173 miles in that time. I'll still be around to check on this thread but good luck to the rest of you guys that stay with the company.

Good luck with the new gig man. Can't blame you either. I'm just waiting for my chance to do the same. These regulations aren't for me.

Thanks guys. AZS, I will indeed let you know how it goes. The regulations change was a big push for me... I suspect by Christmas there will already be a mass exodus in progress of people realizing their pay was hit. I did a calculation and I lost 13% in July compared to last year. That's more than 500.00/mo... not TOO bad... but in the scheme of things if I lost that much over 12 months that's over 6,000/yr. No thanks. If i'm going to lose money i'm going to do it in the comfort of my own home nightly.

    Just food for thought

Amendment to Reverse HOS Bill On The Table

Well, the good news is that someone in the Congress finally heard that many drivers and companies are unhappy with the new HOS rules. An amendment to a transportation bill was proposed that could have reversed the HOS rules immediately and let truckers get back to their old schedules. The bad news is that there will be no time to talk about the amendment before the August vacation. The other bad news is that once they return from their August vacation, members of Congress will only be working for nine days in September... Read the full story here.
