At home I have a Antron A-99 Antenna with a Cobra 148 cb. What would be a good set up for my t680 kenworth to talk back to home when I'm on the road?

Ham could be a distant second to the cell phone, but only if you can get the right set-ups on the myriad of repeaters spread around out there, each with its own specifications to deal with. The cell: one number to remember.
rabbiporkchop, BTShepp and buddyd157 Thank this. -
Ham is good with eggs!

Thank you for the responds. I really don't want to go the HAM way.The current cb that came with my t680 is a Cobra 29. It doesn't have ssb to get out further... Is it expensive/complicated to run HAM?

and yes, it can be costly to have a HAM radio set up.

Yeah I've practice a bit for the HAM license. Tha bad thing is that my wife who's is at home would need the HAM license too, to communicate back. I just wanted something for emergencies. Getting rid of my cb in the truck to switch to a HAM radio doesn't seem that good of an idea at the time. That's how I get road conditions or communicate with my truck driver buddies.

4 300 amp alternators and a
3CX10,000A7 amp might do the trick for a one way conversation. Then another
3CX10,000A7 amp at the other end of the conversation to make the return trip. Even then it will only work if Mother Nature allows it to happen.Crude Truckin' Thanks this.
