Long-Haul preperation

    I can handle two weeks out. 3 is starting to push it, 4 is too long already and at 5 weeks (longest I've ever been out) I HAD BETTER BE HEADED TOWARDS THE HOUSE!!!!! I had my wife with me then other wise I wouldn't have tolerated more than 3 weeks.

    Yeah, I don't think I'd do too well OTR at this point in my life - spent the time out there and really don't want anything to do with it, at least not until the kids are grown and out of the house. By then, maybe just buy an RV and see this great country of ours instead of driving under load with pressure from a giant trucking company.
    I spent 3 and a half months out - that's the longest I ever had to stay out there - I never stayed out that long again. I enjoyed the first years of OTR simply because I was going to places I had never seen before, and I found much of it to be very beautiful, engaging, inspiring. It's just the being alone all the time part - I can see why some people like to take their dog/s with them, SOME kind of companionship is better than nothing at all.
