Today's NEWBIES are a Spoiled ROTTEN when it comes to what they think they need to go OTR. For Years thanks to Length Laws out East drivers had to run in Cabovers to fit. Heck my Father until 1971-1993 when he finally went to work for R&D out of Alabama never even HAD driven a Conventional Tractor at all. All he had ever been in was Cab Overs. His First Hood he was given was a 92 KW T600 with a 60 Flat Top Sleeper then 2 years later when that was traded in he was given a Brand NEW FLD120 Condo he was like What do I do with all this room.

I started driving for my first boss in a 62 Emeryville Cabover that had a 24 inch wide Mattress in its Sleeper. I was upgraded the next spring to a 1970 Transtar I Stayed in that from the Spring of 94 to I had my Fatal accident in 96. My First OTR meaning OUT OF STATE as for my first boss I was Intrastate and only Intrastate was a 88 Pete I hated it was put into a KW T600 A model soon after then got Rose the Beast of the fleet soon after Why was I so Happy to get Rose try 444 HP Cummins 13 Double OD tranny 3.55 Rears and 24.5 Tall Rubber. I cruised across the Buckeye in 11th.

I finally was upgraded to a High Rise Sleeper at my 2nd carrier when my father and I went Team, Why we needed the space. 2 guys living in a Pete 379 is not fun.

How about a cabover International with a 156" wheelbase & no power steering? Not even any air ride. In spite of all the drawbacks the bed was big enough to sleep in.

Chrome? Can't eat it, it doesn't make you one penny more, it doesn't keep you warm, and it won't get you home

Midwestern Distribution? No, they drove Freightliners. That was home of the "Dollar Truck."

Actually I could care less about satellite tv... now satellite radio, oh yeah.

I do prefer an APU with an inverter, only cause my wife rides with and we cook full meals in the truck, pot roasts to die for, steak and potatoes... you name it. We eat very good and do it for less than going g in to sit down. Plus overall it's healthier.
