In school I have driven 5 different trucks on the road. Oddly enough my favorite was the volvo. Though granted it was in pretty decent shape while the other trucks were all beat to hell and back. But man that volvo shifted like butter and turned so tight you could see the back of your trailer in front of you lol. And it had what our instructor told us was an $8K captains chair (seems crazy expensive to me) that the air cushions actually worked.

They took me out of a truck with a sleeper and put me in a day cab for a month. I really liked that truck. I could put a trailer anywhere I wanted without a pull up. Then when I got back into a different truck than the first one with a sleeper I had to learn all over. Been pretty lucky so far as I have only driven 7 different trucks this year. Normally it is a lot more than that. I had to back a greyhound bus up with a 35 ft trailer behind it. That was embarassing. I spent 10 minutes getting it into a parking spot with two spotters. Never had to do that since that one time a little over a year ago.

I escaped from a 379 into a Century!
It was funny to me, as well as the couple guys that were watching me the first time I "tried" to back a trailer. Bloody thing was like a go-cart. Don't worry driver, you'll get used to it, just takes a little extra room.

personally never had a problem switching trucks.
backing is STILL the same mechanics in any vehicle
I mean any vehicle from a pickup truck pulling a boat to any type of Truck and any type of trailer..
just when you start backing Go slowley turn the wheel to see how trailer will react
THEN ADJUST yourself accordingly...
LOL you have to adjust for when ever you slide your tandems this isnt really rocket science...alds Thanks this.
