Overall I can't complain about Swift loading times, they are generally fast in the year+ that I've been here. One time west of Atlanta, GA I picked up at some warehouse that was an old clothing store that I can't remember the name of, right next to a cat tractor plant. Took about 18 hours or close too it. Go work for a reefer company loading fresh food products and you get use to days of waiting then the rush after.
-
That is for sure on the Reefer. Waiting for product to come in from the fields, then cooled off and loaded. Also once when pulling a tanker, line went down for off load, and waited 24 hours, paid the whole time, $20/hr. also meat, waiting for the livestock to come in and be butchered. I think that is why I gave up reefer. As far as Swift, I think that my longest was the Fry's in Phoenix, but it was fine with me. I was staying the weekend, so no real big rush, but did like the detention time.

A day & a half and still waiting for these ####### at wakfern keasbey to put me in a dock., got in saturday morning for an appointment, after being promised hometime for memorial day weekend....someone is gonna get their head seriously chewed off when i get them on the phone monday.

When I worked for CRST and running solo when I was between codrivers I sat for 26 hours at Del Monte in Topeka, KS...then if you count the fact that it made me late for my appointment at Dollar General in Scottsville, KY and had to sit another 48 hours under the load to get another appointment. For that I got paid a whopping total of 0 dollars detention pay. I fought for 2 weeks to get money and kept getting the run around...

After 3 days off on home time. I was sent down to Eloy, Az to snag a load of batteries. Was informed after I got there that the plant shut down last week and they are behind. Was sent down the street w/ 5 other drivers and waited 3 days for a phone call to come back to get my trlr.
OK foods in PA. I doc'd @ 0030, fell asleep after 10hrs of driving all night. I woke up at 1130 w/ a red light and still hooked to doc. Went in and they said they forgot about me. Lol I then waited 8 more hours to be unloaded. My dm blew up at me telling me I dropped the ball, let's just say I had a nice talk w/ phoenix and was put into a new pod/dm.
Now this load. JIT to Lorado, TX. Stuck under it till Tuesday am, its Sunday am now. -
Johnson Control's anywhere but yuma Az is Terrible they will take your empty and put another load on it and you are guaranteed a 10 hr minimum wait. And yes swift should pay more for detention especially since im pretty sure even though they only pay us 8 hrs. they still charge the customer in 15 min intervals until they recieve the L/empty call's. I cannot imagine swift not charging them.

Companies main purpose to staying open is making money and paying poverty level wages.I imagine the hrs and hrs of waiting to get unloaded is no skin off their nose, they just take it out on your pay.

22 hours at a Paper plant in West Monroe, LA. The killer: I showed up on Friday afternoon for what was supposed to be a drop and hook that was "loaded on Wednesday. Pick it up and head home with it." When I got there the guard says, "Huh, this was supposed to be loaded two days ago but it's gonna have to be a live load. I finally got a dock at 1:30 PM on Saturday and it took them until 4 PM to load me. Oh, and they wouldn't allow drivers to use their bathroom. Had to walk a half mile to the Circle K store. Won't be going back there...ever.
