I reciently purchased a 06 Freightliner Classic XL and am looking for a company to lease on with and cannot yet afford to get my own authority. Let me explain from the beginning, I was working for a company out of Chicago ( Freightpro.corp the guys a crook ) I had told him a month before Thanksgiving i was planning to buy a truck. Then after the holiday i went back out on the road and ran another week. On the way out i stopped and purchased the truck, then ran a few more trips and he got me to where i purchased the truck. now everything was fine between him and i he found a driver out of Florida to meet me in Ga to take posession of his truck. the driver was to be there on Monday. well i took my truck and go dot n dyno done and took posession of my truck. well after i got done he called me and informed me that his driver was not going to show up and wanted me to bring his truck to chicago, n leave my truck in the truck stop then find my own was back down to get my own truck. Now he had stopped payment on a pay that was for the week previous and is hloding another week pay till i take his truck to chic i told him not my resposability ur driver no show now im gonna get A abandoned truck from him and i would like to know if ne one can advise of a co to lease on with n what can be done to this guy

Sooooo. You picked the truck up from Chicago and you can't bring it back to him? It's really not his responsibility to get you to your truck. Just sayin.
-
yep that's abandonment in my book. when i quit my employer i rented a car to get home, i feel it's not their responsibility to get me home or wherever i want to go but returning the truck to my home terminal or agreed upon spot, sucks the other guy did'nt show.

Take the truck back !!!! Then demand payment . Do right on your part you have alot more to loose than he does. You don't need a truck abandonment on your record. JMO
SHC Thanks this. -
You abandoned his truck now you mad cause he wont pay you.
-
He is mad because he had it all lined up, and his boss knew what was going on. he routed him to get his truck and then decided to do a 180 and turn into a di ck..... it still is abandoment, but really shi tty on his boss' part to do that.
But I agree, take the truck to a dealership and ask if you can leave it there for a few days till you can get back to GA to pick it up....or drive your truck home then fly down and get your ex-boss' truck. It is your responsiability (tho I agree 100% with you and think he is a prick) -
You have to realize there is two sides to every story and I doubt the boss story is the same. Why would his boss route him to get a truck and pay someone else to bring his truck to him unless his boss in in the business to lose moneyrollin coal Thanks this.

Landstar, Schneider, JB Hunt, and a host of others all take owner ops. Do your research in this forum and on the DAC reports and choose who you wish to go with. Good luck in your dilemma.
