Its that time of year again and we are looking for my husband to get on with a trucking company so that we can move the family back down south.

My husband is talking with Roehl again and it is sounding good.

My questions: Any current or recent Roehl drivers who can offer their opinions based on their experience with them? I did search and found a lot of threads regarding Roehl but they were mostly a year or more old.

Also, in reading through so many posts on here about different companies it always makes me wonder if EVERY trucking company is horrible to work for and they ALL are pretty screwy and can't be trusted. So how do you sort through all these postings and figure out what's true and what's someone just blowing off steam?

    Thanks

YES....YES....every trucking company is horrible to work for....they are indeed ALL SCREWY......how do YOU sort through all the postings and decide on which one to go to...???

you flip a coin....heads...here...tails there....and if by the grace of God and strange phenomena...the coin lands on its rim...(standing upright)??? he goes to work in a sandwich shop.....

you can read all you want, the final decision is his, as he has to live with that. would YOU want to decide this for him and he be miserable for it...???

    good luck.......

With respect to rerun's post above, I disagree. He makes a good point in his third paragraph, however. I'm sure you're just doing your best to help him out. Every company does have their problems and downsides. Every company has their advantages and upsides. Yes, every one, IMHO.

What you have to realize is that out of the 100s or 1000s of drivers each of these companies have, only a very, very small percentage come to these boards and post and they're usually the ones who've had problems of one type or another, so the posts are often times negative.

I basically use the amount of negative post as a guage. I also have had some experience out on the road so that always figures in too. With that all said, there's one, and only one, company that I would never ever work for and that's CR England - for reasons that I won't go into.

Roehl would be a solid choice, from what I've heard and seen. I have a nephew who used to run for them and he was always happy.

Con-Way Truckload and Crete should be on y'all's list to call too. May Trucking and Millis Transfer would be two more to consider.

    Hope that helps.

Don't worry about what other drivers say about their companies, because, you aren't them, right? You are you, you will be a success, you will blow off any negativity you hear, you will do your job you got hired to do, and you will not wimp out. You will be the bestus little trucker out there, right? OR, you could just stay there at your factory job for the next 40 years and live happily ever after. What's that old Chinese proverb, "nothing ventured, nothing gained".

Rerun, I guess most of the women in your life have been overbearing, nagging, controlling shrews. I'm sorry about that but not all women are like that. You might want to try to slow down in your rush to judgement if you want to attract a different type of woman but if not then you're doing great!

We kind of have a partnership going on here and this whole job hunt is something we discuss and work out together trying to find the best options not just for him but for our marriage and family as well.

Thanks to the rest of you who offered your input. My husband has been driving LTL for a few years with a small regional company and wants to move on. It makes sense that most who would take the time to post here would probably be to vent or share the problems more than anything else. So that would definitely make it feel like they are all bad.

I was just hoping to find some info and get some input from people more experienced but I think I'd probably do better with the coin flip rerun mentioned than trying to wade through the jerks.

    So thanks for... not much
