Well when you condisder the TN permit is $2000 and the Arkansas permit is almost $1500 and you are going to have $3000 in escorts not including police for MD and bridge monitors and their ridiculous permit cost and all the other costs

You aren’t running it for free - you are going in your pocket more than some me some guys gross in a week.

For what that guy is offering- he would need to bring it to NM and I would take it the rest of the way

that landstar load is a joke. It's hardly covering costs. Maybe even a net loss. I was talking about the other load 400 miles, 2k $ and 56k in weight. I'm pulling freaking shingles for nearly that. Got 3 lined up all paying basically the same, just a tad over 500 miles for a tad under 2k$ ttt. Monday Wednesday and Friday. Sure the 2 back hauls i lined up aren't paying as good, one just under 2 a mile and one just over. still looking for one to get me back after dropping my 3rd load the following Monday. My point was it mashes absolutely no sense for a guy to operate socialized equipment for basically the same money that a leased plain jane flatbed is getting. At the end of the day I'm actually making more money than that guy cause i don't have the extra cost of having my own authority.

Same subject, but just the opposite of the $2 load. I’m seeing a load that is paying over $9/mile for well over a thousand miles, and the dimensions and weight (<50k) of the load would easily fit on a 6 axle rig. Load is less than 10 ft wide and less than 12 ft tall. Western states, all but the first one. And the shipper is paying the permits on top of the rate. Only thing that would seem to me that prevents this from being a lay-down hand deal for someone is that a beam is required. Am I correct in assuming that no escorts are required? Do beams really command that kind of rate? It’s been on the board most of the day, so I figure I’m overlooking something here. It’s a 3/4 million dollar machine, but still....

    Ah

The load out of Little Rock ...

Yes it is as easy as it seems if you have a 6/7 axle beam trailer. But alas, there are very few of them around and they require a reasonable amount of work to run.

Also, you should expect to spend most of the day at the delivery site while the end customer puts the wheels and tires back on so that the machine can be unloaded.

There are no free lunches - when the rate is very good there will be reasons.

    In case you doubt me....

Actually it is a 966 that for an unspecified reason they are shipping without wheels or tires. The picture I posted was an 826k that I moved before Christmas. Yes it took the customer almost 7 hours to get the drums back on and bolted up so O could spend 15 minutes blocking it up and dropping/pulling the beam out from under it.

    I think the 826 and 988 share a chassis.

They are very similar - I have also hauled the 836 which I think is a 988 chassis. And the the 826 and 986 are the same - just slightly smaller. I have hauled all 4 in the last year.

The 836 was around 80k stripped and the 826 was around 60k.

The 826 was the special version for the landfill that had every potential penetration in the body coved with a plate or cover so nothing (especially a hook or shackle) could get in and had backing plate for the drums to seal the tears on them.
