    I think Holset is part of Cummins, they took over some time ago.
    If so, I'm sure they won't sell their best solutions to competitors.
    The same way F-18 fighter jets sold abroad are not exactly the same with the F-18 US Air Force is using

    16 liter was never a great engine but the 12 and 13 liter engines are very good, don't know why that is but it's been the case since I was a kid

    The reason the engines come with a rear gear train is to allow the truck manufacturer to have a lower hood profile.

    It is to get less crankshaft flex because gear train is close to flywheel.

    My friend has driven the 670 with both the D12 and Cuminns ISX. He prefers the ISX as it is more powerful. He described the D12 as weak engine.
