A lot of the megas don't pay jack for nothing though. No where near what I'd make at Melton anyways.

Can you please explain what you are referring to regarding the hiring process? Also, did you have CDL A experience prior to joining Melton? Thanks!

I start with Melton tomorrow. Going to start a new thread on orientation, getting my truck, and the first week solo. So here goes nothing!

No. I am a new driver and got hired with melton. I'm on my 3rd and final week with a trainer now. They do not hire everyone that comes to orientation, we had 20 show up and 8 or 9 go out on the road a few weeks ago. Orientation is a fancy way to call it an audition. They judge you on working safely understanding the concept of the work, how you drive, trip planning and a few other things. Having a good prior dot physical and a good cdl does not guarantee employment at melton.

Overall from what I've seen it looks to be a decent place to work. 1200 trucks and 4 terminals around the US. Of the 1200 close to 100 of the drivers are million+ mile guys with melton.

I have read conflicting things regarding expected hometime. What have you been told to expect?

1 day home for every week out. That's the policy

Melton is a joke..longer your there the less miles youll get..thats why they give new truck to rookie drivers to get them to work there..i was with them and never got a new truck being one of there veteran drivers..ps trans in alabama is higher paying at 27%..spd in wa is better..boyde is better plus you get free sat tv in your truck..
