Any truck will do 9 mpg if it's limited to 50 mph.

I get 7 MPG, average speed 65mph, and idle at night for heater.

Only time I got huge mileage was running light loads of appliances(22,000) out of Newton Ia. I would average 9 mpg running Newton to Toronto On with a Series 60 in a Freightliner COE. Once hooked up and heavy back to 6.8 mpg or less.
