$250.00 gennie from harbor freight (with 2 year replacement warranty) and a portable a/c from walmart, home dept, lowes ($200-$500) and 2 gallons of gas for 12 hours of running works just fine for me.

Dude, dude, come on now, get out of the truck and slip into Mc D.'s or Wal-Mart or the show area where it's cool. You can't put an APU on a company truck.

Thanks for the info. I read the FAQs on the unit and it says it uses 12 pounds of ice an hour at night? So, in 8 hours you use about 8 bags of ice? It doesn't sound feasible......

I notice the gas can sitting on the headache rack, ever have any trouble with DOT over that?

My friend ran window units in the back wall of his sleeper but they would die every 6 months or so from vibration.

I have a Honda EU3000IS mounted on my frame like an APU. It has a 3.7 gal tank and I carry a 5 gallon can but keep it out of sight. The gen runs my roof mounted RV a/c unit with heat strips. Total investment is about $3000. If I keep it I'm going to build an aluminum gas tank under the headache rack between the uprights of about 20 gallons or so. I'm thinking of switching to an Onan 2500 watt RV unit in propane. I like the Honda but an Onan is built for the purpose. They can be bought for about $2000. I'd really like to have a diesel Onan but the 3200 watt runs about $5500. Maybe find a used one.

I have a smaller unit that normally doesn't use ice...
I suggested the larger unit because it was made for humid areas.....
But 8 bags of ice is cheaper than paying a $300 fine.....

I can get the Honda Gen on Ebay used for pretty cheap. Where do you put the window air conditioner unit.?

I have a Ken T600 with the sleeper side door..
Hang it out the door or out the passenger door window?

    Or what?
