I talked to a driver yesterday across I 90 in South Dakota, he was complaining how stock cobra 25 ( came with new cascadia) was not getting out and we were able to still talk 5 miles apart ( he was going east, me west) I realize there isnt a whole lot of major obstructions in SD, but still 5 miles for integrated antenna isnt too bad.

 

He never used to do things like that.
I heard recently he started to do NPC mods. I don't believe he ever spread coils.

 

Oh he does spread coils. As I mentioned in my post, he spread L31 wide open in my 955.

 

I'm kind of shocked as he used to poke fun at people that did that sort of thing. I guess it's not that surprising though since his college textbook training didn't exactly prepare him to make a radio perform the way I like it to work.
I know the Galaxy 88 that he did for me back in 2004 performed reasonably close to stock specifications which is more than I can say for most technician

 

I actually bought a Cobra 29 LTD Chrome from an ebay store online. Peaked and tuned with echo board installed and shotkky receive diodes. Shipped straight to my door in like a week.

I can honestly say Dave never made a radio sound like this though.

 

Dave did my 655, everyone says it sounds great. But it's doing stock watts, maybe even a hair under stock. Which will actually work out pretty well now that I figured that out because I can use it in front of one of my amps if I want to.
