Don't stop there. Its been my experience these same guys are the ones that will sit in a truck stop become truck stop attorneys and render legal opinions that are wrong and can and sometimes do get greenhorns into trouble. Their dock manners stink as well. Honestly some of these guys can't be classified as safe drivers either, just lucky drivers. The only good thing I can think about these guys is most of the time they will try to help you get parked at dockside or a truck stop, but then will get on their CBs and make fun of the drivers.

At a loss for words here.... You said you would rather hit the Flatbed to avoid causing a secondary accident with the car behind you? Do you realize you are driving an 80,000lb vehicle? If you hit that flatbed doing 45mph not only are you going to hit him, more then likely your going to push him into other vehicles as well, ALWAYS look for the safe route out, In your case the power poles should have been your first stop if you were unable to successfully stop in time, Under no circumstance should you attempt to jeopardize another persons safety because you were following to closely to stop your own vehicle safely.
As far as getting hired with another company after this, good luck. As others have said try Western Express our of Nashville, TN. However since this was a preventable accident and it is recent, I'm not sure they would even hire you, and they hire a lot of people O.O -
Normally when people explain in detail the circumstances of their "incident " they basically want to be told they were right and when they are told the opposite they disappear.
You on the other hand really were asking for advice and opinions and quite clearly are reading and digesting the responses. To my mind that's a sign of an open mind and it's to your credit.
If you can learn to just drive your drive and not overthink what others might do your experience will have a positive impact on your driving future. -
Flatbed took off his bottom half, crushing blow to DEF tank caused explosion...The empty trailer was bent like bannana, folded in the middle

I took US12 over White Pass last week because Snoqualmie was shut down, despite being scoffed at by two old crusty drivers who swore up and down that US12 was off limits to trucks due to rock slides earlier this winter.
Made it over, no restrictions whatsoever. -
