A good dealer is always the best option. Short of that the only company I would lease from is Lone Mountain. As I recall they have some mileage restrictions but if you are worried about those you are working too hard.
As for good companies to lease on with? The type of trailer you plan on pulling makes a difference. But in general my top two are Landstar and Mercer. Beyond them you get into specialty hauling and if you are doing that you know their names and most likely would be only buying a truck spec'ed to what you hual..

Wasn't approving or disapproving.But simply stating if you can't save money as a company driver you can't save money as a Lease operator.Because your not making anymore money.Companies like May and dozens of others pay last i seen is .95 plus fuel is about.25 now is a $1.20 a mile it cost between.75 and a 1.05 on average just to operate the truck without driver pay.That only leaves.45 at best for the driver.Wasnt putting you down as far as your two trucks I have no idea that's your tale
-
Ok doesn't sammons only pay you 27% of what's left after fuel and deductions then make truck payment after that with what's left. Glad you were able to save $5000 in 29 months.I do know guys as a company driver who save 6 to 8 thousand a year in there 401ks.IronheadSmiff and BigTennOTR Thank this.

Hello- 2 different options;
LRM Leasing------- Davie,Florida(truck only)
RTI inc- fixed rate n variable rate lease options-(truck n job). -
Big deal, what about a $70,000 truck, you seem to be comparing apples to oranges, never mind the fact that I live in one of the most expensive areas of the country, there fore my monthly expenses far exceed that of most drivers. Tell me about the company drivers that are putting $40,000 a year in their 401Ks.Last edited: Mar 16, 2017

You put the 5000 dollar you saved up on here over 29 months.I don't know how you figured out your mortgage and taxes are higher then other drivers.How did you come to that ,do you walk around the truck stop and ask other drivers what there mortgage is?You posted about the money you were making I didn't ask you.You work at sammons you get paid 27% of the 75%after fuel and deductions of rate you get.27% of 100% of the rate is better imo.

I get 100% of fuel surcharge, tarp, tally etc and 75.5% of 100% of linehaul, thanks for playing.Last edited: Mar 16, 2017

I'm not telling any " tale" . Although I sold both trucks, I have a photo copy of clear Oregon title in my name for both trucks. Your figures of .45 CPM for the driver are not accurate. Your cost estimate of to operate the truck is also not accurate. I made enough to prepay my quarterly estimated taxes, as well as pay my state and federal income taxes in full every year. I also kept my truck in excellent condition mechanically as well as cosmetically including the interior. When I decided to retire, there was an owner operator with cash that bought my truck. I would still be hauling for May Trucking if I hadn't developed severe night blindness.

I ultimately want to do a lease purchase or buy an older truck outright. I've seen the numbers from a few people and they did really well as an O/O. Definitely pulling in more than the .45 cpm.

You should do fine with no truck payment. I would put .15 CPM aside for maint and tires. These drivers that start quoting numbers about lease purchase or buying a truck amaze me with their negative outlook on everything. Some will be successful some not. Run it like a business.
