This is a plan for disaster! Any business needs at least 3 months worth of finances to fall back on, should life, or things happen. And it does. Tire failures. Mechanical failures. Slow weeks. Loads cancelling. Family emergency, where you need a week or 2 off. All that can, and will happen. You got nothing to fall back on, what next?
I love our cats as much as anyone could. But going L/P, because of your cat's, is another setup for failure.
But do what's right for you.

That's gonna be a tough one; I've never seen a lease-purchase agreement that was even HUMAN-friendly, only bank-friendly and corporation-friendly......

Why can't you live in a company truck, where every week your paycheck is 100% profit to you and not what's left over after ALL OF THE EXPENSES OF OPERATING A TRUCK are deducted? LOTS of L-P drivers OWE money at the end of the week. It's a really dangerous idea to let the people that assign you work also have a contract where you pay for everything. Get a company driver job and live in the truck.Toomanybikes, Sons Hero, rluky13 and 1 other person Thank this.

I lived in the truck with my wife. We team drove for 4 years and gave up everything except a small storage unit so I can store my car and some furniture and things. We lived in the truck 2 years then we were up enough for money so we put some cash down on a house and a car. You should find a mega carrier or even some small carrier who could be good to you and live in the truck as a company driver, save money and travel the country. I thought about doing the L-P thing and everyone I talked to told me to stay away from it. Yes, I wanted to be my own boss as it sounds good to have your own truck and be free out on the open road getting that "white line fever." Now I decided to just be a company driver and be free just have someone else pay for everything and I get a (W-2) paycheck at the end of the week and have no worries about fuel costs or paying my rent(lease) to own a truck to someone else. Your best is to stay a company driver for now.
Lonesome, gentleroger and tscottme Thank this. -

What's wrong with Jefferson? Seems like a decent place, used to go to the swap meet there twice a year.
