    i got a 959 sitting here collecting dust if you want it and the coax i had made for it. lemme know if you want it. its for sale and its been peaked and tuned too and i used it for abour 4 months if that. also got an Astatic mic too.

    I'm not sure what the RCI-2950 sells for. However, if you want a good radio with SSB, I'd suggest the Cobra 148. I think it sells for about $150-$175.

    Yes, you can be fined, up to at least $10,000. Not so much for having it, but actually using it.

    How much power an antenna is supposed to handle is not relevant. What is, however, is how much gain (i.e., dBn) does the antenna provide. The more gain an antenna provides, the better signal you will have for your radio both on transmit and receive.

    Not really gripping, I use a K40 (which the packaging doesn't indicate gain) on my truck, and have been very well satisfied with it for the last 15-20 years. No, the current one is not that old, probably 9 years old. Someone decided they needed my antenna more than I did and helped themself to it.
