Hi guys.
I am considering Schneider and would like to hear some opinions on them as a company.
I currently only have my class A permit so I have two routes I can possibly take, they are...
Option 1- Schneider does not own a school but will send you to a local school of their choice. It is 4 weeks, no pay, and then 2 weeks of orientation, and another week on the road with a trainer. Its at the 7th week that she said I would receive my first pay check... Also I would be signing a 1 year contract with them. I am not sure if I would be able to receive the manual transmission license through them. It is going to be almost two weeks until they can conduct a in detail phone interview, so I'm assuming that august would be the soonest I would be able to start the process
Option 2- Pay out of pocket for the local CDL school (45 minutes away), I would be able to start as soon as next week and test on a manual.Once I obtain my CDL, I can go to Snyder as an inexperienced driver. I see that they offer decent sign on bonuses for even the inexperienced. She said they would provide a tuition reimbursement of $200/month as long as I stay with them until I'm fully reimbursed. Same 2 week orientation and 1 week with a trainer before I would get a truck.
Which option would be the best "bang for my buck"? Im leaning toward option #2 but want to hear what others think. She could not tell me what school I would be going to if I went with option 1. My ultimate goal is to get Tank and Hazmat and pull tankers. I heard those guys are making decent money.
I appreciate any and all feedback!
Thanks!

If you CAN swing the tuition on your own, it makes sense to have SNI build your credit for you.
Thats what I did.
And I think you're smart to look to test out on a manual. Although I would suspect you would have anyway.
Just make sure the school is accepted by SNI.drvrtech77 and gentleroger Thank this. -
I went the second route with student loans but not through Schneider, I went through Werner. I was able to pay off all my debt within the first year out of pocket.

Me too. Also, look around for any kind of state or federal grants. You might get to go for free.

I heard tankers is a great division in schneider

Pay for it yourself and get reimbursed - generally better sign on bonus plus the tution reimbursement.
It also looks like you'd be on the road sooner. -
Thanks for the info. After talking to my wife, I think we are just going to pay out of pocket.

Good choice. Look into grants as well, though. Free money is free money
