And for the ones that will state you shoud only get paid for the hours you work per week. Here is their formula.....

    2000 x $.38= $760.00 gross

    $760.00-$100. food= $660 real gross

    $660/7 days= $94.28 per day

    14 hours per work day/ $94.28= $6.73 per hour

And this is without taking 25% out for taxes......

    Yup. Still crappy...:biggrin_25512:

Ok, so, we're talking about Prime?
    1. The median value between 1800 and 2400 is 2200...
    2. That bumps CPM pay to 836 Gross
    3. Those miles are based on a new driver. How long has he been driving?
    4. There are no bonuses factored into this "pay". Extra stop, layover, detention, fuel bonus, performance bonuses, etc. I know Prime has a fuel bonus as well as the other standard extras.
    5. Throw the food expense out... What do you do at home, chew grass. That argument is so dumb. Eating OTR can be CHEAPER when you factor in per diem tax deductions.
    6. In relation to my counterpoint on food expense, you can save A LOT of money going OTR. If you're single, you may not need an apartment. You won't need cable. Gas for your car isn't an issue, lol. Plenty of things, you get the drift.
    7. The hours may be high, but where else can you make that kind of pay with 1 month of training? Tell me the place that lets you work even 50 hours a week in a regular basis to a first year employee doing unskilled labor.
    8. As far as the hours, tell me, would you rather work an hour at a Mc Donalds, or driver for 2 hours?
    9. YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT FIRST YEAR PAY. Why do you deserve buttloads of cash working for a company that gave you training and vital experience..?

Okay lets do it your way...

    2200 miles x $.38 per mile= $836 gross

    $836 / 7 days = $119 per day

    $119 per day / 14 hours a day of work = $8.53 per hour

This is without taking out taxes... :biggrin_25513:

Not all company's require detention pay, stopover, or any "extra" pay. So this is what the drivers have to look forward too.

My current job starts new employees at 7.50 and you deal with drunk idiots that are on steroids that want to break your nose, bite you and so on. I think life on the road sounds a touch more appealing!!

Wanna get technical then you can count all time sitting waiting on dispatch to find you a load. Landstar's breakdown is more accurate of what goes on but I was being generous.

Easily, Chase. 28 hours of that 98 hour week will never receive any sort of pay. You're not going to get detention pay sitting at a shipper or receiver if you're on your 10 hours off, or at a truck stop waiting for that load. You're off-duty as far as the company is concerned, they're not paying.

Fuel bonuses require being able to drive the truck in a manner that will garner the fuel mileage necessary. And when you're late before you leave, it's go, go, go, fuel mileage be ######.

And when you're getting loads that are behind schedule and will never be ahead of schedule because of the 62mph governor on that fleet truck, that performance bonus goes out the window.

That's how that 98 hour work week happens.

If you want to break it down to hourly pay and compare it to general labor, you have to compare the weekly pay as well. How many jobs pay this much a week..?
