Well I checked again and it's $660.00 total. Sounded cheap to me too but that is what's listed on the website for an in-state resident. I copied this from the website:

    NC Resident
    Tuition - $504.00
    Student Activity Fee - $19.00
    Computer Use/Activity Fee - $16.00
    Accident Insurance - $1.25
    Parking Fee - $5.00
    Drug Screening - $33.50
    TOTAL - * $578.75
    Out-of-State Resident
    Tuition - $2,799.60
    Student Activity Fee - $19.00
    Computer Use/Activity Fee - $16.00
    Accident Insurance - $1.25
    Parking Fee - $5.00
    Drug Screening - $33.50
    TOTAL - * $2,874.35
Textbooks are purchased separately at the DCCC Bookstore and cost $82.00 for a total in-state cost of $660.75.

They say this is for essentially the same eight-week, 384-hour program offered by the North Carolina Truck Driver Training School. I would be required to get my permit and DOT physical first before applying. I am missing something here, or is this just an outstanding deal?

I start the Sage PTDI approved school at Isothermal Community College in Spindale, NC on the 28th of this month. Same state as you and at a community college, but the tuition is $3400 for a five week course that is 8 hours a day mon-fri with some one on one driving time with instructor that may take place on saturdays or sundays. What you were quoted sounds like a real bargain being at another college in the same state as me....weird. And at Isothermal they said the tuition was the same for in-state and out-of-state students. I'm a native.

My tuition is paid in full through the TRA (trade readjustment act) program being a displaced worker from a textile company that moved offshore last year and closed down all U.S. operations. So I just got the program approved through the Unemployment Office and don't have to pay anything; a perk of losing a really good job to a Honduran that can do it for a lot cheaper.

I thought NC only provided driving record for past 7 years, not sure on that but thought it was only 7 or 10 for this state. I'm still waiting on mine to come in the mail before school starts. I'm sure something you did 10 years ago won't have any kind of effect on your employment. Under $700 is a bargain, that's amazing. While I'm posting does anyone out there know of good companies that have terminals in the Greenville - Spartanburg area of SC? I'm 40 miles up insterstate 26 on the NC side of that area. I know CR England does but after reading this forum they are OUT of my potentials.

Good luck and best wishes N2TRUCKIN from your fellow NC neighbor.
