It was one of those CB chatter deals, but at the time, I hadn't seen a TMC truck for about 2 days, and it kinda made me wonder!

Just an update, I saw an ad for Super Service in the paper a few weeks ago. If they where going out of business then why would they be hiring. Oh, and also I applied there today. I don't know if I got hired on yet or not, because of I misunderstood the recruiter. She told me to call back before 5:00, and I thought she said to call at 5:00. So I missed her.
If I get hired on with them the orientation will be on the 1st. Again, if they where truly going out of business, they wouldn't have an orientation group now would they? -
I've seen a couple of slow times at werner, but going out of business?
I doubt it they have frieght and don't care who they undercut to get it.
downsizing, maybe, but still bringing on students as fast as they can to compensate for 120% turnover. they need revolving doors on the terminals for the ones coming in and the pissed ones leaving....... -
It occurs to me that outfits like Swift and Werner server a very good purpose - especially for us noobs.
From what I hear, it just doesn't get any worse than those places. Thus, if you can hack it there, you can hack it anywhere in the industry.
Of course, what with Werner now buying trucks of differing colors (including *pink*), they're harder to spot and avoid.
I chose my own form of protective coloration. As a noob, I'm going to orientation for a completely different outfit. With a little luck, they'll hire me and I can sneak up on th' rest o' yah!
(yeah, over simplification - I'm sure there must be worse places to work, but 1) I've never heard of them and 2) it wouldn't matter, anyway, since the numbers of noobs rushing through their doors - in each direction - won't be anything like the totals running through the doors at Werner/Swift/JB Hunt/etc.) -

I talked to Jerry in Sumner, WA this past Thursday. He has a 5 year plan for Swift. Yes it's true that 1500 drivers will be toast soon but it's the worst of the worst that will be gone and some good drivers cought up in the sting I guess. He wants the bad drivers with bad attitudes, roadreports, truckstop cowboys that idle gone. It's that simple. He wants Swift to be a leader and not the joke it became in the past. That's a good thing. He cleaned house in Memphis and has plans to get rid of 500 office people around the country that also are weak and treat the drivers poorly. All from out of his mouth, so you can't have a better source.

I drove for Swift back in 2002-03, and although I never had a problem with them THEY did have alot of problems. If Moyes has a plan, it had better be one hell of a plan, especially to get them out of the role of being one of the biggest joke companies out there to being a "leader" in the industry. Maybe he should try listening to the people who are actually out there doing the grunt work instead of the idiots they get to sit in the offices who have absolutely no idea of what the hell they are talking about.
