FCC won't work for you. I am with them, and they only take experienced drivers with at least 2 years. Sorry.

Darn good company though. I am in my 4th year with them. Wish I would have found them sooner.

    Texzonie Thanks this.

Yep, sidepocket, they run east. The majority of the trucks are doing a 48 state gig. I put my truck on with the intent of staying primarily in the Midwest. Though I have taken some stuff to PA, VA, the Carolinas, etc. I even knuckled under and ran a hot one out to Seattle about a year and half ago. Even with those runs, I still got home on the weekend like normal. They have an account with BD running medical supplies out east from Nebraska, and Kawasaki account out of Lincoln, NE running bikes, atvs, mules, etc out to NJ. There is a lot of bulk product that they run out to the east as well. They have an account with Sioux Bee Honey that runs just about everywhere. Lot of good accounts and good customers to work with.

They do a pretty good job of matching the freight with the truck so that the driver will be home most weekends, even on the 48 state stuff. Midwest running gets me by the house a couple of times a week and off on the weekends and holidays.

Hey Texzonie, I too am looking at companies to go with. I graduated last friday and have pre-hires from US Xpress Werner and Crete. I have a date to start with Crete May 16 unless something more interesting comes up.

FYI Sons, At US Xpress there is no such thing as a prehire. With them you are not hired until the end of orientation, sometimes maybe the day before. Ive seen them send people home for what I call stupid issues. (example-a driver broke his arm just over a year ago and put it on his physical, that driver was temp DQ'd until he could get a medical release for an issue over a year old that was done and healed) With Werner you are basically hired day one pending drug test and physical results. I have no personal knowledge about Crete, never worked for them.

    Hey Son of a Trucker
I'm no expert but of the three, I'd definitely stick with Crete. I have a pre hire letter from them and will likely go that way too. Watkins/Shepard is a consideration due to their training program that doesn't use a trainer. If you can get through their 10 day boot camp it saves the chance of getting the trainer from hell.

Son; I got my CDL yesterday and looking at Crete also. They are now paying 34 cpm after you're in your truck--still $500 per week for training. Take a look at Conway Truckload. They are hiring students and they look good also. Good luck.

Yea pretty sure Im going to go with Crete also. .34 to start with and .41 after the first year doesnt sound to bad as long as the miles are there. Friend of mine is going to go with Shaffer (Crete refer side) and they are paying a cent more in pay. I also had looked at WS too but at first told not hiring in area but then they said they would hire as long as you are near a major city.

Redwave: Yes I looked at Conway Truckload and Freight. Both seem really good and will def be on my backup plan if Crete doesnt work out. Guy from our class had an interview with Conway Freight and was hired by the time we graduated. He said for the physical test they made him move a converter dolly by hand a certain distance.
