I’ve got the winch idea down but pardon me for asking, what is this arch you speak of? I am very confused lol.

I also agree that at 12’10” full width you should be able to sneak it in under 12 without any hassle.

An arch is a couple pieces of steel that go up at an angle, a few feet higher than the winch, with a roller at the top, the cable goes up and over it, so it hhas a lifting effect. Lifts the end of the log so it skids easier, and doesn't catch on everything.

This is not even a D8, just a random internet pic to show what an arch is.

Also the guy who owns it is very elderly, and doesn't run equipment any more, but he got a hold of his operator finally, has been trying to for days, the operator was away camping.
The operator said the winch and arch weighs just slightly less than a ripper, and yes it will at full angle be under 12 feet wide. So it's on for Wednesday to go get it. [IMG]

Thanks for the weight info on the winch and arch versus the rippers. I've never hauled a big Cat with rippers so I was just going on guess.

Depending on fuel, with arch you should be under 90,000 lbs. Blade angled depending on corner bit wear about 11 and change. Best thing is load and scale it somewhere if you are concerned about any scales.

I wasn't sure what truck/jeep/trailer I was going to take, but I will just go with way overkill so I know that weight isn't going to be an issue.

Probably don't have to go way overkill, just be comfortable that you have enough axels. Remember you should have 5% variance at the scale. Scale the weight early if possible, takes the guessing out of it.
