I will actually ask tomorrow because I have to stop at the kamloops scale anyway.
After i drop off the junk on my bed in kamloops tomorrow, I have to run out to Savona, grab a Taylor forklift, and run it back over the kamloops scale to Canoe. Generally all i hear when I call is that is fine, use your beacon light like usual. I rarely haul anything up towards the creek. When i ran over the Vernon scales last week I was literally over on everything, so after weighing me and i was heavy on every axle but had permits, they parked me and came out to measure. I was 3.63 meters wide, he looked to be sure my beacons were working, and said your permits are good for over width, height, length, and weight, have a good trip. So I don't know what to tell you, maybe move south where it is more relaxed. I find the further north I go the more uptight they get.
Looking for D8T weight and width blade angled

As a side note, you sound like one of the good guys out there, we all appreciate your feedback and positive outlook on what is fast becoming an industry of outlaws, bootleggers and other riff-raff, keep up the good work, and be safe...MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
So I stopped by the scales today, and when I asked why they always let me run with a permit only not escort up to 12 wide, they said they have me in their system as low risk, i run beacons even on loads i don't have to, i have no accidents, i am always safe, and I don't fly through towns, or take unnecessary risks, so they just have me marked as cleared good to run the extra 6 inches. I always tell them my real width, they just issue me a permit up to 12 wide, and tell me to go. They added that its more than just me who is given a small amount of leeway. They did go look physically at my forklift load today, measuring its height which was legal, and it weighed nothing it was only a Taylor 330, 33000 lb capacity fork lift, i couldn't even feel it back there. They commented on my slight over eagerness in chaining it down, jokingly of course. Five would have been ample, but I just let my trainee do her thing, and we ended up with nine lol.
I've taught her since day one of her training to always add more than enough. I joke that if we roll the truck, nothing should seperate from the trailer even while the tow truck is righting it.Nothereoften, Landincoldfire and LoneCowboy Thank this. -
Are you anywhere near where that couple got killed.....? The Australian and the American.....
Oxbow and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
BC is very large, especially north to south, that was way up north, I am in the south. Just driving time, no stops would be about 25 hours. -
I remember stopping in at a scale well under permit swearing i read all the conditions a million times and i asked and got told a certain dimension you need 360 degree beacons OR a pilot car. I don't remember the exact size as i no lomger leave my valley in alberta often
cke Thanks this.
