what ever you do, don't lease it into another company nor sign a lease purchase agreement, period.
in my case ,I got my CDL permit, my O/O friends let me practice with their trucks for about 3 months, then I opened my own business, (my own DOT .MC) i bought my own used truck with cash. I hauled loads locally, power only, for another company for about 10 months or so, then I bought my own new reefer. I dispatch myself , I do my ifta, I do all my company documents , except my taxes.
I am against monopoly, oligopoly, and oligarchs trying to take over this industry , therefore I am 1 truck/reefer man.
I run if I get paid my rate. I'm 100% independent O/O.
every business is risky. listen to real 100% independent O/O. if you are smart and disciplined you will enjoy your freedom, but if you think you are going to become rich in this industry, you are in the wrong business. the only way you can make a lots of money in this industry is abusing and exploiting other fellow drivers, just like those big companies and corporations.silverspur and South on 65 Thank this. -
I'm not trying to become a millionaire, i just want to live free under my own terms and make enough for a comfortable retirement because lord knows social security won't be there when I'm eligible. Thanks for the reply.silverspur Thanks this. -

Without that the rest is pointless especially in a horrible freight market.Last edited: Dec 21, 2024

You need to be thinking get rich. Otherwise you’ll probably just get by. If you’re serious about this in the long term just get a new truck.
South on 65 Thanks this. -
The market is currently the worst I have ever experienced in my entire career.
Ask anyone on here how the market is doing and they'll tell you.
I've even posted threads showing how there are public traded trucking companies who reported in their earnings they are operating at a loss.
Things have been soo bad this year Swift has been walking away from their customers and putting more of their own trucks in the spot market. A mega carrier contract freight is not even safe from devastation.
I'll post that below
Be careful.

Now is a good time to buy used and new.
Trucks are on the dealers lots, ready. The freight market can only get better but the equipment prices and also availability not much really.
Just make sure you don't buy a truck and then ask "what now?", because you're not getting help there from anyone. -
South on 65, Dennixx and 86scotty Thank this.
