Looking for mentor for help starting out. (Please)

Like others have stated right now rates are pretty bad. I had my trailer in the shop for a week and have tried to find something worth running since Tuesday with nothing to do. I have some funds so it does not hurt as bad to sit and wait for a decent load that makes money instead of running to make payments. It feels worse to me now then when I first started 4 years ago. Fuel prices are still almost double than they had been when I first started and rates are about the same or lower in some cases. I make a hard PASS on this one. Hopefully your brother can go get a different driving job.

Given what all the above posts have said (and I agree with them)....your best move here is to answer some questions:

• Does your brother have a class A CDL, already?
• If so--how much driving experience does he have? A year? 2 years? Less? More?
• Does he have any (or all) of the CDL endorsements (tanker, hazmat, doubles-triples)? If none of them--then just specify.
• How's his CDL driving record? Any accidents/citations/incidents?
• Can your brother pass a drug screen (urine specimen)?
• Does your brother already have a valid DOT medical card? If not--can he pass the physical for one?

If you can answer those questions with real accuracy--the Forum might be able to help him get a CDL gig.......there's (still) A LOT of opportunity out there--if you know where to look.....

I wanted to jump in and first say thanks for all that responded to me last week on my post when I was the one asking questions. I also wanted you to now not all of us that come here seeking knowledge are one hit wonders and run off afterwards. I personally hung around to continue learning about the trucking industry and to see if I can return the favor with some knowledge I may have.

If he's having trouble making a go as a company driver why would you think he could make a success of running his own business? It would be a mistake to back him until he properly understands what his plans are.
