Transport America is now CFI. That website will take you right to CFI now.

You need to tell us what kind of trucking (reefer, dry van, flatbed, etc) as well as how long are you wanting to be out on the road (home daily, home on weekends, OTR for weeks with several days home, or live in the truck, etc).

I recommend you first decide where you want to work before you go to school, but most people put 100% of their preparation into deciding about school and zero into where to work until the day they get their license. Oh well. Being near Charleston there are lots of jobs pulling intermodal containers. That is usually a frustrating and low paying job but you can be home daily. Companies may even try to talk you into buying a used truck and "starting your own business" pulling containers. DON'T DO THAT. Work at least 1-2 years as a W-2 employee driver, or company driver, to learnt he business before you even consider paying all the expenses for a commercial truck. MOST people fail trying to buy a truck and make a profit. Right now is an especially bad time to buy a truck or make money owning a truck. Be a company driver. You have no risk except you might not like the job.
