Dry Van, Reefer, and tanker are my top 3. Flatbed is something I would consider. I'm not really looking at intermodal for the reasons you mentioned. I've worked for years in a field where I traveled for months at a time. I would be open to anything from every other week to a month between home time. Getting home is a perk not a must.
I agree that most students wait until the end to start looking. I'm trying to avoid taking the first offer because I need a job, that's why I'm here looking for options. While pay is of course a consideration, I'm looking to find a company with good training, that treats its drivers fairly. My hope is to learn to do my job well and establish a solid work history. I feel both of these will pay dividends in the long run for me and my employer.Chinatown and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Be overly cautious and don’t hit ANY thing , don’t get any traffic tickets .
This applies to your personal cars too since tickets go against your license no matter what vehicle you’re driving .
Get all the endorsements . Doubles triples hazmat tanker and twic . And make sure you don’t get stuck with the automatic transmission only restriction . -
