Whoa... slow down... I didn't attack you. I simply asked if I was reading that correctly because it sounded absurd.
Lemme help you out with a few things.
"market of surplus" the only surplus there is drivers looking for work and trucks waiting to be bought. There is no surplus of jobs. Watch the news once in awhile and you'll understand.
"if you gave up on your dreams" I'll tell you about my dream. I wanted to own my own truck, trailer and company some day. I worked my ever loving butt off in the oilfield of west Texas, scrimped, pinched and saved every dime. I had a budget so tight it squeaked. We bled, cried and sweat for that money. Literally. Try working 12-16hr days, every day in 120+ degrees thru the summer with NO AC in those crap trucks.
Then we achieved our dream. Everything, with the exception of the truck, is owned out right. We paid cash. We've never had to take an advance because we have our own working capital.
That's what we did. I certainly didn't come on here saying I wanted somebody else to get my truck for me. We did it ourselves through hard work and perseverance. Not handouts. See, I have standards too. To achieve my goals on my own.
I'll also let you know that very few O/O would be able to take you on with 5mths experience. Most insurance won't touch you. I have no doubt that you are good person at heart, but again, few O/O will touch you when you demand a specific truck. This board is full of guys with more experience and no demands dying for an O/O to take them on.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
