The total square footage of a cold storage facility doesnt stop at the dock doors.....nor does it stop at the spot trailers....it also includes the 20/30 trucks parked in the dock doors too, with you in it!...but they wont tell you that....but you sit there for hours with no end....and you have tighter time constraints when you haul a reefer...more chances for failure....less drop yards for tcall....it cost money to operate a reefer drop yard....so you can bet you will sit on that load till monday am....but the thought of four additional freezers at my house sounds appealing..

Got my app in with KLLM. Should start next Tuesday in Atlanta. They seem to be a legit company. Been reading all threads about them and all positives. What is the difference in the trucks they use. I know some are autos, and I don't want that. Hopein u Company drivers can give some insight on some minor details. Inverters, are they allowed? What can I expect as far as running, average miles, etc.? Clean trucks, how often are they washed? How often are trucks serviced? Thats all for now. Appreciate any insight.

Only have a few autos, which are used by other drivers, no inverters, trucks are washed while on the road and anytime you are in the terminal

Does that mean there are no inverters in the trucks or that no inverters are allowed?

If you get a truck with an APU, you won't need an inverter. If you don't get a truck with an APU, you would need one. When I was there, you could have one so long as it plugged into a cigarette lighter. I had a 400w that did just fine for my laptop and TV/DVD combo.

With the APU, you'll be able to have an actual refrigerator and a microwave if you so desire. These things would be at your own cost, which is the case with the vast majority (if not all) trucking companies.

No I didnt start. The company I work for now black balled me when the recruiter called than they gave me a nice pay raise to stay. From what I have heard here and on the road KLLM is a good company to work for all in all. All companies have their goods and bads. I would work for them and may in the future. About the physical, Im sure its like any other. Good luck in the future and be sare when you get on the road.

When I had mine there, the whole orientation class (at the Dallas/Seagoville terminal) went to a little med check facility. I was weighed, had my blood pressure checked, had my vision tested, turned my head and coughed, had my lungs listened to and I was out the door with a two year card.

:mcool:Sounds simple enough.....Now if they would only finish my background checks and let me get started before I forget all I learned in trucking school.

I did speak to them this afternoon and the dude said they still paid HHG miles and not practical. Bit of a let down. Thanks for the info.:mcool:
