My husband drives for them and my opinion on them haven't changed over the last year. He is out of the Jackson terminal and he runs everywhere. He hasn't been to every state yet, but pretty close. He is sitting a little more this year than last, but still gets pretty decent miles. I think the company treats him fairly, they get him home on time, and they offer good benefits.

Hey Cab,
I've been with KLLM for just over a year now and I have no complaints. I get 2500-3200 miles per week on average and I don't get one load delivered before they have sent me the next one. Now I have a bit of a quirk in that I am a solo driver running under a team dispatcher (*innocent look*).
KLLM has been good to me and I don't see leaving anytime soon. I'm actually thinking about buying a truck through them and becoming an O/O. I just have a bit more research to do before I commit to taking that plunge.
As I always tell people, when it comes to choosing a company, there is no one-size-fits-all, but I hope you enjoy KLLM as much as I do! Hope to see you around the terminals!! If you see me, stop me and say Hi! I don't bite (and have had my rabies shot even if I did...hahaha!)

i just finished orientation in jackson.training pay is $400/wk; orientation pay is $300. orientation pay is paid either on the next payroll after you finish (payday is thursday), or by $150 advance to comdata paid the day you finish and $150 via next payroll.
the only wrinkle is that they're backed up on trainees. i'm at the motel and it looks like they're going to send me home to sit out the holidays because they don't have any trainers for me to ride with. the real pisser here is that it's apparently unpaid. for the experienced drivers who don't need a trainer, they're having some trouble getting trucks, and those guys are being put up at the hotel and getting paid layover. us trainees tho are SOL, and of course there's no way i can find work in the interim.
i'm *hoping* that, if i get sent home, they'll hook me up with a trainer in seagoville, which is about 60 miles from my house, rather than me having to ride a bus back to jackson (a 12 hour trip). but right now it's just wait and see.
also, the tuition thing came up during reimbursement. you start getting that when you upgrade to lead driver (after your 6 weeks riding with your trainer), at $150/mo for 12 months. at the end of your first year, they pay the rest of whatever the cost was in a lump sum. so if your school cost $4500, you'd get $1800 over the course of your first year, and the remaining $2700 as a lump sum payment. since it's reimbursement, it's not taxable.ScooterDawg Thanks this. -
I'd have to double-check, but I'm pretty sure that my husband's tuition reimbursement was listed on the taxable part of his paystub, not the reimbursement part.

Hi, I wanted to know if KLLM lets there drivers take the truck home with them also how many miles does a driver average per week. And also do they run Canada and NY, And what is the speed of their trucks. Thanks and Merry CHRISTmas.

Officially, you have to live more than 150 miles from the nearest terminal to be allowed to bring the truck home. But, you also can't live too far away. We live 240 miles away and they won't let him bring the truck home anymore.
Weekly averages can vary. You will stay busier if you have Haz Met. Most weeks have been 2500 miles, some more, some less.
Canada, no; Mexico, no. You drop the trailers at the border.
NY, yes.
Trucks are going 60.Used to be 65, then 62, and somewhere along the line it got neutered to 60.
Baack Thanks this. -

Commish,
I'll be in Jackson on January 5th for the Owner/Operator class (yep, I'm taking the plunge). If you are attending orientation there then keep an eye out for me and I'll be happy to give you a tour, introduce you around and answer any questions you may have. With luck maybe we can hijack the company van and go get some eats. LOL! Then we'll crank up my laptop and tell everyone here what an awesome time we're having!
Really...keep an eye out for me. I'd be happy to meet ya!
RTPapa T Thanks this.
