Just get started one way or the other. Pay out of pocket then hire on with a company that reimburses tuition or just go with a trucking company school and keep your money in the bank.
You posted one time you want exercise while trucking; get a folding bicycle. It will fit inside the truck in the sleeper area. Use it when you're on breaks or layovers. Many drivers use folding bicycles.

www.cfidrive.com can probably have you in school in a week or two. Good outfit and provides meals and lodging during school.

Chinatown- Thanks for heads up on this! Looked into company site, they are looking to hire a welder for their custom trailers which is field im coming out of. Going to go in there monday and talk with them, maybe I could land a job and have them assist me in obtaining cdl. Pretty much try to be as much of an asset to thier company as possible as they are unique transport provider.
    Its worth a shot..

Sounds ok. Probably a good job. I couldn't do it though, have too much "wanderlust" in my soul; like to run the roads. Good luck.

China gave you some good advice here. Take matters into your own hands and don't look back!

Thanks man, it’s just the pounding I took on here in support of self paid vs train to hire was relentless!

Thanks for confirming and thinning out the useless bs.

Chinatown and Vic Firth Thank this.

I should probably read the entire thread to see where things stand now, but IMO this is the best route to take anyway.
See, the thing is, after you pay all that money to the Community College, the company your gonna go work for for your first year or 2 is one of the same companies you could have gone to to earn your CDL anyway. So what does it matter?
