Brandon, just an FYI, 160m is at 1.8 mhz, the 80m band and 75m band is 3.5 to 4 mhz.

I did a lot of 160 work in the past, had a 40 foot helical wound vertical for the band, it worked very well until the noise got bad from the cable company on 160 and 80.

I also had on my old old pickup an 80m whip, bottom loaded and used that for a few years.

I stand corrected. 1.8mhz is the 160 meter band. It's been a while since I dealt with anything that low.

Well as far as I'm concerned (the OP) I just want a very good mobile CB setup that transmits and receives clear and with as much range as LEGALLY possible. I run a newer Volvo Semi (not sure of the model off the top of my head) that I know has grounding issues so I will need to have my antenna grounded some way. I want to still be able to run the factory antenna mounts on the mirrors if possible while still getting a good ground.

I have driven four Volvo 670' s in the last 10 years and have never had a grounding issue with stock antenna mounts both with stock antennas and Firesticks or Wilson 2000. The swr was always good and Tx and Rx range was good, on one of the trucks I did use perch and install seperate coax, mount, and antenna only to avoid running through the Rami junction box because I was using a radio with 100 + watts.

    Cattleman84 Thanks this.
