Weeeeell, there you are, tow! Not only did you miss out on Mama's venison dinner tonight (tow614 hit a deer tonight up in Michigan. See: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...culture-one-drivers-experience-gordon-33.html, msg #326) but Octrucker also drove two years for Swift and would take Swift over Gordon 'any day'. Swift, tow, he'd take Swift any day...
Well, I never drove for Swift so I can't speak to that. But a filthy truck out of orientation? That does kind of ring my bell. Short, peewee runs Portland to Washington? Well, I had peewee runs and peewee paychecks, no doubt about it. Octrucker doesn't say how he came out with hometime. Maybe he'll let us know later. Gordon hit my hometime less than 50%. And a problem with a dispatcher. At Gordon? Really now.
Hm-m-m. One of my DMs (Driver Manager) and the FM (Fleet Manager) have departed Gordon. I'm told that the FM got the out-the-door Gordon kick-off and the DM quit before...
I don't know, tow. At least so far, it sounds more like Gordon failed Octrucker than not. Them's pretty standard Gordon complaints.
Looking to hire on with Gordon

Ahhh.. either you got it or you dont.... I find it odd that he quit swift since he was doing so well there... anyway .. doesnt matter.. my shorts are not in a bunch..
I run into guys here who do complain about miles and dispatchers. Sometimes they may be justified but more often than not there are other reasons. As I have stated several times on different threads in here. You can do well here on the US Fleet and be willing to stay out 3 to 4 weeks at least. Outside that I cannot say yea or nay.. but to say gordon is a terrible company needs better qualification. If you mean to say that if you only want to run a specific location and be home every week then you may not like it here.
I can only attest to my experiences and what I do to achieve them. After 4 years I can say this is a good company. Yes there have been dm's and fm's that have come and gone whom we were glad to see depart but you have that everywhere.Newtrucker bak Thanks this. -
They have a terminal right there in Boise. Not sure where Naples, ID is.
Newtrucker bak Thanks this. -
Never mind. Just looked it up. can't you just you're from Canada!! Lol.
Newtrucker bak Thanks this. -
If he lives near bonners ferry and would run canada he should get on the canada board.

But to answer OP's question lol. Gordon is a good mega fleet to work for. There will be a lot of things you dont like, and my advice is when they happen speak up and see what happens. Gordon has a lot of very good people, and a few bad apples as well. But if you get a pit of a truck, ask for a new one. I went through 3 or 4 before I got seated in a good one. If the loads you get arent paying the bills, start blowing up your DM's phone. What happens a lot here at Gordon (and everywhere else too), is that if you dont say something then management thinks you are ok with the way things are going.
And never forget that most of those keyboard commando's arent drivers and really have no idea what it is like out here, so treat them like an old spinster aunt with a lot of money; stick to your point but dont be such an ##### that you get written out of the will.Victor_V and Newtrucker bak Thank this. -
Oh, and one more thing, after you are out here you will find that some of the DM's will go the extra mile for you, be sure to return the favor and bail them out when they need help. I have a good relationship with some of the less popular DM's just because of this. They fixed problems for me when I had them (usually after hours when nothing seems to ever get done), and so when I get a QC mssg with their initials asking if there is any way I can do this load for them, my answer is of course.
But just because I do well with so and so doesnt mean you will, everyone has a different personality, but stick around and you will find it is possible to make a place for yourself and get enough miles to make it work for you.Victor_V and Newtrucker bak Thank this. -
Hi CougFan! Thought you fell off this side of the face of the proverbial. Pithy comments as always. Kindly stop by 'The Gordon Culture' and let me know what you've been up to. (Don't want to hijack thread further.)
Neither tow or joseph were clear whether Gordon could get the OP (bak) home to Idaho. What do you think? -
Hometime should not be a problem. We run all over idaho.
Newtrucker bak and Victor_V Thank this. -
joseph1135 Thanks this.
