Pretty much so but the folks I have worked with do not send the ECM with the engine. You use the one you have. When you start swapping different CPL's the problems show up.
I find Cummins harder to work with as years progress. No complete engine or long block was available but there was a short block for about $15,000 plus core. That did not come with a camshaft. When I called Savannah the guy seemed like he was mad that I called and asked. I got it from a different location.
Years ago ( 25? ) they would come out and cut counter bores, install deck sleeves, put in inserts for spun cam bearings and such. New management cut that off. Suppose they cut that off figuring that doing work for independent shops and trucking companies was getting into their wallet. Now their big new shop on I 20 is Augusta is a Peterbilt shop.
Kind of like when I bought 5,000.00 dollars worth of parts for a Hino. I called and asked for torque specs. That is papritority information. That is why they are supposed to bring them to us to work on. We will see how that works for Hino but I will never buy or suggest anyone buy one for different reasons. Found it on line for free.
Still like Cummins but find it sad how things have go in this area.

    Oxbow and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

69k for a recon and 67k for a long block. That's all installed, but really, who pays that?

    It doesn't even make sense

That's not far off what engines are worth. I was putting 15L Isuzu engines in excavators 10 years ago and a complete drop in engine was about $100k back then

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Jesus we got a deal on. Couple isx and one of the two didn't blow up ....we stick with dd15s they go over a million and I can swap in a factory long block all in for about 35 ....when I got the price for the isx we just started parting the blown truck out to keep her sister running .....need to pull out the tripac and sell it once the weather gets a little warmer:)

    Just for an update.

I found a used motor with 300k in a wrecked truck. 1 year newer, complete, with no core charge for $13,500. About the same for install
