OK...got a little something different on here now...its an old POS John Deere skidder, it doesn't run and the swivel lock bars are missing...for those that don't know, that means it was a major pain in the ### to get loaded (pushed, pulled with an excavator...along with some help from a front end loader).

And thats not the worst part...the darn thing is going up I95 from NC to CT :biggrin_25510:

10.5 feet wide, legal height and weight

Oh by the way...I got my Elogs activated today too.

The Challenger and JimTheHut Thank this.

Boy that sucks. Nothing I hated worse than picking up equipment that will run. And then have to go to Connecticut live just isn't fair. I will definitely make you appreciate out West. Well have a great week and drive safe. Keep the posts coming I enjoy your thread.

I forgot to mention that it wouldn't roll either...hydraulic axle brakes, would not release.

They had a pretty hard time dragging it off the trailer...:biggrin_2559:

Things have slowed down some the past couple weeks...all the combines are out on the farms so I've been hauling a little bit of everything. I just loaded a Kubota tractor, and another thing (I forget what its called, but its landscaping equipment), and 2 large buckets (1 for an excavator, 1 for a tractor)....barely had room to fit it all on the trailer...its on there though.

On my way to Ft. Dodge, IA...and glad to be headed west again (been in CT and NY the past few days)

I'm liking the E-logs...but it would be nice if they could integrate the systems...so we wouldn't have to enter our arrived call, then off duty, then ready call, then on duty...I find that part mildly aggravating.

I do not worry about on duty or off duty when sending in my arrived or leaving. When I get to where I'm unloading I hit my r and I'm showing off duty. Then when I start unloading I'll go on duty and then. My leaving usually showing out 15 min. I've even sent leaving shipper while I was off-duty nobody says anything to me about it.

I'm slacking on my thread again...LOL.

Since the last post I have hauled armored Humvees, various tractors, and a sprayer...right now I have 3 Case tractors on here, 2 stop load ending in Columbia, MO (picked them up in Galveston, TX at the port)

It seems Maverick has added me to the list of phone numbers they give the new MSO guys...to call for help...I consider that an honor, didn't know about it until today...but I am happy to pay it forward, I also had to rely on advice from a driver more experienced than me when I got back into heavy haul...I'm pretty sure I called him at least once a day for the first month...and I had done this stuff before. We still talk often, now its more like "shop talk" but I pick his brain every chance I get. (he's been a heavy hauler for something like 30 years...I've only done heavy haul for a total of about 3 years if you add it all together)

One of the new guys called me today....needed routing help...Iowa routed him right into a mess in Illinois (Illinois didn't require permits...thus no routing)

Well...I got laid over in Ft. Worth for the weekend because of the race...no, I didn't go but I could have, LOL.

The load is a D6 Cat dozer with a winch on the back (12' wide, 52,800 lbs.), and the TX permit office said I couldn't move the load until noon today.

I was barely able to get my axle weights right, being that close to gross weight doesn't leave a person much wiggle room. I am legal at 92,000 lbs with a permit, the Dozer put me at 91,800 lbs....but after some much dreaded 5th wheel sliding and moving tarps and ramps around and a couple of trips through the CAT scale, I got it legal (11,900 on the steers, 39,900 on the drives, and 40,000 on the trailer).

The work assignment said it weighed 50,000 lbs, thing is, they didn't know it had a winch on it, and a good bit of fuel in the tank...but all is well that ends well...and I'm on my way to Harrisburg, PA.

I'll see if I can remember to take a picture tomorrow.
