Wrong area I guess. I’m offering people right now $3000 on 675 miles and can’t get a single truck. It’s wild how there are such massive changes from region to region.
Looooowwww Rates

It's been odd like that for a couple months. Seems like the Midwest has held fairly firm on rates. Been slow here in the west, but things are beginning to turn upward now. Seeing more $3.50+ loads on the west coast this week. Picking one up tomorrow for $4.50 pm on 700 miles.Speed_Drums and God prefers Diesels Thank this.

Depends where someone is at...
I am pulling one myself from IL to VA / $3275 760 miles/43 000 lbs/ dry van.
Last week round trip:
IL - GA - IL $4755/1900 miles/42 000 lbs/dry van
Compared to the last 4 Februaries I remember, this one is very good. Anyway, too good for me to slack off.
February of 2018 wasn't bad either but this one seems better.
Something's gotta give though, too many trucks and too many still coming - this good run has been for some time already.
Beware, the ship is about to sail off...
or to put in a more subtle way, don't caught on the toilet bowl with no wipe tissue around.
Speed_Drums and 77fib77 Thank this. -
I think the same thing. Every body is going to get in and then rates will dive. People going bankrupt, ect..... Or a down turn in the economy and the same result.TallJoe Thanks this.

Despite excellent last 2 quarters of 2020 and this one already decent, even with March still to come, there is still a high level of difficulty to predict what the future holds.
I think it is best to stay busy at a relatively high rpms while the rates remain at these levels. Because for sure they won't be like that forever.
As a matter of fact, I won't be at all surprised if in a week from now the same lanes will pay $500-1000 less and then a little bit later they will fall below 2 dol per mile and the title of this thread becomes accurate.
Is there even any rational statement indicating where the current state of economy is and which direction it is going?
We know the fact of enormous amounts of money to have been pumped into circulation and that new administration promised to undermine things the previous one had established.77fib77 Thanks this. -
Inflation is going to kick in. Should I buy a truck with low rates, so a lower payment is locked in? Idk. Just a tought I have had.
-
As a matter of fact, I undersold myself on my current load ... by a $1000 ???!!!!!

should have waited till today to book something. That's the price you pay when you want to pre book ahead of time and I thought that I had a decent rate....lol
Still, who would have thought that the Chicago - VA lane could be so hot today? Notice in the right panel, what the average rate bracket was for the last 15 days...
86scotty Thanks this. -
I recommend heading up to Central Point, Oregon. That's where that big money is!!! C'mon!!!
Speed_Drums and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
