Sure, its called a WIA (Workforce Initiative Act) grant and you can get it through the unemployment office if you're unemployed. They will grant up to $6,000 typically to train someone in a function of their choice- obviously, the grant money is paid to whoever trains them. Not a big secret. Takes about 8 weeks to get approved.

The secret way is lobbying for kickbacks like Swift and Werner do... they hire x number of drivers to drive down 'official' unemployment statistics and the government lets them write off the cost of new hires while simultaneously reimbursing said expense with our tax money. It works out great for them... not so much for us. See also... TARP, the " American Recovery and Reinvestment Act", the "Dream Act"... Oh, and please pass the pork.
What a shame. I remember years ago, Werner was a good company. Had long hood Pete's, sponsored one of my favorite drag racers, Clay Milligan, I remember on their trailer doors, they had a sign, "paperless logs", (we all thought, OOOO, high tech),look what they've been reduced to, is it greed? What makes a company go south like that?:smt102:smt102
Ole C. L. himself quit running the show. Same thing happened to Walmart and JC Penny. When James Cash and Sam (or any of the big founders - perhaps our OWN Founding Fathers) got out of the picture and left infinite potential behind in someone else's hands . . . What's a crying shame is their own kids did it. My kids do that to MY company? That rumbling you feel will be me jumping straight OUT the grave, the "PAP"ing sound will be me slapping the snot outta them and if you listen carefully you'll hear in the wind; "I TAUGHT YOU BETTER!!"

Pete Seeger wrote a song about it. "Where have all the flowers gone?" It's a commentary on the cyclical nature of life and us not learning from past mistakes. "When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?"

Hi Aminal, I thought Peter, Paul, and Mary did that song, hmm, you're right. There are several examples in my state alone. Two companies, Adams Transit in Friesland Wis. and Skinner Transport in Reedsburg, the founders had beautiful classic truck collections, with the company name and logo on the doors to commemorate their roots, in both cases, the fathers passed away, and the kids dissolved the collections. I was very upset to hear that.

    Aminal Thanks this.

YES! I worked for them for one month. Decent co driver....everything else, not so much. The shuttle driver that picked me up at the bus terminal had a bad attitude, and she was the nicest person I met.

I thought with HIPPA your medical issues are between you and the Dr. If Dr gives you a medical card then you are good to go.
