And if there wasn't any shippers receivers and manufacturers drivers wouldn't have a job. Trucks are just a link in the supply chain. You aren't special.

You probably just hurt about 70 percent of the peoples feelings on this form I'm sure some people will cry over this

 

Yeah, but when people think of a truck driver, they think of someone who is similar to the one I described, not of a clean cut educated dude with nice equipment who manages to net $150k per year

 

68 years ago. This industry has definitely gone downhill:

 

i get a mixed bag of response. most are courteous and aware of their surroundings. i honestly think the majority of bad 4 wheeler driving is simply ignorance. most have no idea what it means to cut off a truck or simply be a nuisance for us. it’s hard to explain that we work every second that truck is rolling. watching, predicting, planning etc. i can’t kick back in my chair and enjoy a guilt free cup of coffee or conversation with others.

doing it right (driving) is a constant assault on the senses, certainly not for everyone.
