I am looking for answers to my growing disinterest, boredom, & repeated abuses from this industry! I started out with "great love & passion" for these big Sherman tanks that we roll throughout America but the past 2 years have beaten me down, used me horrible, broken once strong ties with my children - feeling virtually crushed & I am not seeing the 'out' door. Especially now that I have lost more & the only true home left IS THAT TRUCK!

I make decent money where I am now but the fact that they are all Serbian leaves a huge language & cultural barrier to deal with besides the continual equipment issues that 'I USUALLY' get barked at for?? (they give out trls & trks without WRITING down the current condition of them!) Besides they claim that ALL of their van tractors must be Canada capable (easier for who?) even though many DO NOT choose to go & are not forced to get a passport. So all van tractors are governed & RPM's 'locked tight' to 65mph! boring,,,, Yet all of their tanker drivers have tractors that run at 75mph!!?

I was in college for about 3 yrs & was told when I decided to come back out 9-1-2011 that I "had to" start over from the beginning because most "forget" how to drive! Yet in the 2 hilarious weeks with CR England I did very little while there - passed needed tests & was told "I had to" team for 2 months to make sure I was confident & up to speed. HE turned out to be a full blown alcoholic (YES I wrote a long report with substantial proof) & I was the one that they questioned!? From there I had met someone that wanted to team & we (unfortunately) went to Covenant which broke us up, gave us poor equipment, & ran us to death (2200 mi every 2 days for poor pay)! He went home at 3 months there to look for other options & left me in the lurch. I sat home sick for near 2 wks.

From there I had a call from someone that I met at Covenant to go to Panther & that turned out a cruel joke & many abuses & majority of my pay stolen! I was very skiddish at this point & went to Schneider (one of the few that would answer me). Another disaster due to continual equipment issues, 4x in the garage or sidelined waiting for repairs in the first 3 wks there! So I left when my newbie dispatcher (when old man Schneider died & left that CEO that he had hired [had been fired from Swift??] all the original office people & dispatchers did not like him quit & went elsewhere) who had NEVER been in a truck was wanting me to 'go for retraining' as to HOW to run loads on time OR she suggested the 'F' word. I quit before she could fire me for HER stupidity!

I was devastated at this point & did not know where to go. I had been talking to a female driver that suggested 'we' team up with FedEx - she got fired & that fell thru.
From that I teamed with another for a brief period at Express-1 but he being the "1st seat" driver was supposed to "make sure" that repairs, loads, timing, team partner, etc, etc. ALL ran smoothly - he did not! Team was dissolved. Besides I had actually cracked my kneecap & tore something in my shoulder when I fell due to dumb team partner but Texas doesn't allow to file compensation after 30 days!

I stayed home to heal and to tend to a newly released brain-injured Marine and other family issues that needed me there. I did get hired by FedEx CC in July & out of the 3 people - 2 ran broken equipment & 2 took money from me (actually one STOLE $4,000) from me) & I have had to scramble for "another" job to keep bills paid! Then, like many others we got hit with that horrendous flooding Oct 30th to Oct 31st 2013! So we had to move at the same time a friend had hooked me up with the company that I am at now.

I just want a faster truck or a "honest" someone that is willing to HELP me buy a decent used one so I get make up all the lost monies from the past 2 yrs, RE-Pay all the money that I 'owe' to my son, & tend to my business as I need to instead of putting things off or having to delete & lose things I own.

    Thank you!!

You stated your a Marine so, I am not going to give you the same lecture I give everyone in your position, and believe me, your not the first to go through what you have gone through. Maybe not exactly but, basically.

It does sound to me, like YOU need to take control of your life and stop listening to everyone else comrade. Stop thinking about going faster, 65 is pretty much the norm for the majority and honestly, if you had to pay for fuel/maintenance on the truck you drive, you wouldn't want to go that fast. Speed costs money, the faster you go, the more it costs.

I am not sure what YOU are looking for but, I would guess that you are looking for stability. I drove for SNI and I think you left too soon. You should have went above her head but, too late now.

Slow down, take a deep breath and take control of YOUR life. Think about what YOU want in a company and look for that company. Mega Carriers have more security but more BS. Little carriers have less security but less BS. Since you have worked for a few carriers in your short 3 years as a trucker, that may effect your prospects some. Take your time but, take control of your life and do what you want to do. Look on here for the carriers your interested in, and ask questions.

Good luck to you comrade, don't give up yet...

I'll give you the same advice I've given others on this forum, that were in similar situations as yours. Don't know if they took my advice or not. I took my own advice and it worked for me.

You need to place yourself on the outside and then look back in, in order to see the big picture and know what to do. So take a vacation out of the country; lay on the beach, relax, enjoy the sun and ocean waves and just relax. Consider going to St. Martin or the Philippines. While you're laying in the beach chair or on the massage table, you can look back in at your situation in the USA. You will see,"Oh, I see my situation clearly now and see exactly what I need to do to remedy the situation."

That's one reason people in rough marriages do a temporary separation; as long as they're in the middle of the turmoil they can't see clearly. They have to place themselves on the outside and look back in to see the real picture.
